I only have one cake pan that is not pyrex. Everynight for dinner, something is in a pyrex pan.
I got this email today about how Pyrex dishes are no longer made with the indistructable glass they were made with back in the 1940's. Now, they're made with a slightly less quality glass that has the potential of shaddering in an explosive way after prolonged use.
Snopes says this true! http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/pyrex.asp
Do you think I should stop baking with mine? Or Do you think the chances of it really happening are rare?

I bake with mine all the time too, but I have a friend who's pyrex 13x9 just exploded in her oven. She says, after reading up (which I haven't)that its the extreme heat changes that cause problems. For her, she took her pan straight from the refrigerator and put it in the oven, which she had done a million times. Anyway, I still bake with mine, and just don't put them straight from the refrigerator to the oven.
(by the way this is ashley, just to lazy to really sign in)
