Jimmy's birthday is on the 24th of August and Ned's birthday is on the 25th. So far we have had a lot of success with joint birthday parties. Since the boy's birthday's were during the week my parents wanted to do something fun on their actual birthdays. On Jimmy's birthday we went to Gatti Land, ate pizzas, and the kids jumped in the bouncy gyms. That was a lot of fun. The King family came too and Dale's parents were in town visiting as well.
On Ned's actual birthday we went to Kart Country which is basically a Go-Kart place. They say they have the longest track in the country. We rode the long track a couple of times with the boys and they loved it. Jimmy loved the race. Ned just loved the Go-Karts. They had a kiddie track where Jimmy could ride by himself. That's what the video is of. We were so impressed. We really thought this would be extremely comical, that Jimmy would wreck or get stuck, but we were disapointed because my boy can drive! He was actually bored. I guess Go-Karts are a lot more fun when there is more than one person on the track.
They also had a batting cage, an arcade, and bumper boats as well. We gave the bumper boats a try. They were a lot more fun than we expected.
So that weekend we had our birthday party. Jimmy and Ned agreed on a Scooby-Doo Theme. Which I turned into more of a Haunted/Halloween idea. We had a haunted tunnel that the kids could crawl through and find clues. They stuck their hand is disgusting things to find another clue. Put Scooby-Doo Tattoos on their faces and busted a Ghost pinnata which I made myself! Not mention the left over silly string and poppers from last year's party. The trampoline seemed to be a hit as well. We had a great turn out.
By the way, so much fun to make your own pinnata! Dang cheap and easy. All it takes is time. It took me about six hours to make it and two days for it to dry. The only thing I would do different is work the rope into the paper mache. Cause the pinnata broke off of it's rope pretty quick.
It took quite a few hits from a real baseball bat to break as well. It was a tough little sucker. We ended up letting it lay on the ground and the kids took turns with the real bat trying to bust it open.
I made the cakes myself! Jimmy was fine sharing his birthday party with Ned just as long as they each got their own cakes. I like decorated cakes. But the siding fell shortly after finishing them. I was steaming mad. I hate working so hard on something just to have it not turn out right. But the boys didn't care. They were actually some of the best tasting cakes I've made. One was French Vanilla and the other was Butter Pecan. I found a French Vanilla Flavoring so the frosting tasted like French Vanilla too.
Happy Birthday Boys! So Happy to have you both in my life. You make me happy everyday!
