I'm putting this here, because I would really like to watch it sometimes, but I just don't have an hour to waste at the moment:

Scott Westerfield is the Author of the Uglies Series, and the Leviathin Series. Both of which I have read. They were very good and imaginative. I would recommend them both to any audience.
The Uglies is about a Utopian society were all ugly children recieve mandated plastic surgery at age 16 to become a Pretty. There is quite a bit of brainwashing added to that, all in all, in was enlightening and interesting, and a page turner.
The Leviathin series is a steampunk series. I love steampunk. This series follows a young girl who has disguised herself at a boy to be in Great Britain's "Airforce." However, the airships they fly are unlike any we have ever seen before.
