In Primary we made these simple book marks for the moms for Mother's Day. They were pretty simple except for one small problem. Then ends of the cord kept unraveling. The more the kids touched the ends, the more they would unravel. The big kids had no problems doing it, but the little ones had sweaty little fingers that just had to touch it.
If I did this craft again, I would pre-cut all my strings, tie a knot in one end and then put some elmer's glue on the other end and let it dry. That way it wouldn't unravel.
I got this idea from pinterest:

I got all of my supplies from Hobby Lobby. I found a small tub of colorful glass beads for $15. The holes in the beads were too small for ribbon so I found a package of hemp cord that was just thin enough to fit in our beads. The cord came in a package of 10 colors and 10 yards of each color. It cost about $5. I also bought two packages of metallic beads to make it look a little fancier. They came in packages of 40 for 2-3 dollars. I had a lot of beads and cord left over.
We also made cards
