I don't want my kids sitting around all summer watching TV. Jimmy struggles with his reading, while he absolutely loves being read to and listening to audio books. I want him to build is reading skills this summer. Ned is being so stubborn, he has a perfectly normal memory, but he has no desire to learn his letters. I want him to spend the summer learning his letters in prep for Kindergarten. Each day they will working on Reading, Writing, and Math.
Our First Science experiment was to test the effects of Sunscreen. We worked through a Scientic Method Worksheet as we conducted our experiment. The Null was kept inside and did not get sunscreen. As a result the Face Stick sunscreen protected the longest.
Here's where I got the idea: http://musingsofaprimaryteacher.blogspot.com/2012/06/using-scientific-method-in-kindergarten.html and http://www.icanteachmychild.com/2011/06/why-do-we-need-sunscreen-experiment/
Ned and Jimmy have enjoyed making things out of our letters. We are following the recommended sequence of introducing letters:
A is for Astronaut and apple.
M is for Mountain and mouse.
T is for Tiger and tree.
S is for Seal and snake.
Ned finds it tedious to color. I try to make things so that he doesn't have to color too much for too long.
Coming up next week: Making a Solar System Mobile and letters: Ii, Ff, Dd, Rr.
