On May 5th I went in for a normal doctor's visit. Since I was going to be induced on the 10th due to Cas's large size, my doctor wanted to do an ultrasound to make sure he was facing the right way. The ultrasound revealed that my amniotic fluid was low. The Doctor said that low fluid can increase the chances of the cord getting in the way during delivery so she wanted to induce me right away.
The problem with inducing with pitosin is that if you're not dialated, pitosin won't do anything but put you in pain (contractions). So I spent the night in the delivery room getting medicine put on my cervix to force it to start dialating. The next morning they started me on the pitosin which put me into official labor. The staff was a little slow at getting my epidural in so I actually felt some "real" contractions with this labor. I never felt a thing with my other two.
Cas has been my smallest baby weighing in at 8lb 9oz which meant he was really easy and quick to push out. I was a little shocked at how fast it all went. My epidural was awesome and I didn't feel a thing by that point.
Cas however, came out completely blue. My doctor was absolutely right about the cord getting around his neck. His color returned by the next day and he's been completely healthy. He's a hungry little guy, does not like strangers, and cries quite a bit. But I'm sure glad to have him out of my stomach and in my arms.
Jimmy and Ned have been awesome. They adore the new baby. Jimmy loves holding Cas. He'll sit and watch an entire cartoon with Cas in his arms. Ned likes making baby noises and tickleing.
