Yeah!!!!!
Here in Kentucky your kid can only go to public preschool if your low income or if there is something wrong with your kid. We make just a little too much to qualify based on income. So I filled out the paper work to get Jimmy tested - ya know - to see if there's something wrong with him! I mean hey, free preschool!
Oh my gosh what a crazy test! A month ago, Jimmy and I went to the testing. They drilled the poor boy for three hours straight! I felt so bad for him. We had maybe two tantrums in that three hours and by the end of it, Jimmy had his head in his arms on the table, tiredly whispering answers to their questions. Batman and Robin attended as well, and actually, they answered most of the questions and did all of the pointing.
So today, was the results. I wasn't sure what to expect today. I didn't know if they were going to drill him again or what, so I prepped him before we came. I reminded him all about the test he took and discussed how we're going to leave our toys in the car this time. He was so brave and ready, he didn't even fuss when we had to set his toys down in his booster seat and shut the car door.
There were no more questions! All they did today was review the results of the previous test with me while Jimmy sat on the floor and played with some connecting toys. They said that Jimmy was pretty much normal in every category except his articulation. He has abnormal articulation which, as was explained to me, is worse than just "baby talk." Most kids his age will baby talk: "I wuv ooh." But he's got crazy articulation. He doesn't pronounce p's, b's, g's, k's, f's, and the list goes on. So for that one reason alone, Jimmy gets to go to preschool for free and will get the services of a speech therapist for free! Woohooo!
I am so excited! My little man is going to love school and I just know it's going to be so good for him.
(Note to self: review this post when I am bawling my eyes out on that first day of school!)

Awesome that it is free! I cry at the beginning of school. My kids love it, but there is something about them being gone & growing up that just gets to me. Good luck in the fall.
