So I thought I'd bring out some of the great reads I've recently had my hands on:
If you haven't read the Dan Brown books you're really losing out. This is the third in a series about Prophesor of Symbology, Robert Langdon. However, this is the type of series you do not have to read in order. Typically, Langdon gets called in to investigate or accidently stumbles upon a murder because clues have been left that require a symbologist's interpretation. This leads to a wirlwind of chaos and running and learning some hidden secret in the world of Christiandom and Free Masons. There's always a ton of true history packed into a page-turning fictional plot. I always feel more intelligent after reading one of his novels. Other Robert Langdom Novels are: "Angels and Demons," and "The Davinci Code."

Maria Synder's "Poison Study" is a new series I've recently started reading. So far it is a series of three books and I do not know if she plans on adding more to it later. This is a series you need to read in order. Yelena is convicted of murder and due to be hung, but she is given the chance to be the King's food taster instead. Is life worth living if there is a chance you might die at every meal? I thought this book was quick and easy. I loved the main character and I enjoyed the world the author created. It presented a unique view of government and I liked contemplating it. This book would be good for a book group to discuss.

The "Leven Thumps" series by Obert Skye was an extreme dissapointment. I saw this series several times in my Desseret Catalog in the mail. I thought it might be a good replacement for Harry Potter now that that series is finished. While the first three books are intriguing and fun to read. The series eventually ends bluntly and stupidly. It almost felt like the author got bored of the series and just decided to end it. I would strongly discourage you from starting this long series.
"Inkheart." I had watched this movie and thought that this might be a really fun series to get into. After reading all three books my thoughts are, eehh. The first book was imaginative, intriguing and worth making a movie for. The second two books were slow and boring. I feel that the first book ended well enough that you really don't need to read the second two. I actually listened to these books on CD. My husbands response to hearing them: "Is this book ever going to end?"
If you've gotten any great books that I should try, let me know!
